new forum?

Post by reekymarut » Wed Apr 09, 2008 14:35

you guys ever consider switching to phpbb? i'm no tech expert but i'm on alot of different forums and tend to notice that most phpbbb seem relatively spambot frre, i think it might have to to with nothing more than the security picture which is far more unreadable (by default) on them. just wondering though as it doesn't seem to be too much of an issue as you seem to keep on top of their spam canners.

It doesnt matter if you have capsha image or not.

We have that on our forum and we get around 1 to 5 new spambot registrants per day.

Its actually real persons going around on forums register accounts and then adding the user info to the bots some way.

there are phbb2 and phbb3 forums that contain a lot of spam on them aswell.

it all depends on the counter measures the admin(s) of the forum do :)

the recent spam attack on the forum, isnt from a bot, but an actual person doing them...im pretty certain

If spam is the problem, this is an e107site, install teh alternate authentication plugin, and enable login and account creation with the graphic security option.
